Reflection Meditation: Mirror Practice
This is a short practice where you’ll sit in front of a mirror and simply look at yourself.
You’ll be invited to look into your own eyes and stay with whatever comes up. This can feel strange at first. You might notice your mind trying to distract you or your body pulling away. That’s okay. You’re not here to perform or feel a certain way, you’re just here to see yourself.
As you meet your own gaze, try to stay with the question: What do I see? Emotionally. Energetically. Who’s looking back at me today?
This practice can be soft or intense, numb or tender. There's no “right” reaction. Try and stay as curious as you can throughout.
How to Prepare
Sit somewhere with a mirror at eye level (bathroom mirror, handheld mirror, or phone camera works too)
Make sure you're upright, relaxed, and supported
You can place a hand on your heart or belly if you need a sense of grounding
Let your breath stay natural. If your eyes water, or your gaze shifts, or you laugh, it’s all part of it. The invitation is just to stay, and notice.
Please journal about your experience afterwards in your retreat guide.
