Qi Gong

Qi Gong is an ancient movement practice from China, often described as a mix between slow martial arts and moving meditation. It’s been used for thousands of years to support physical health, emotional balance, and energy flow.

The word "Qi" (pronounced chee) means life energy, and "Gong" means skill or practice, so it’s essentially a way to work with your energy through movement, breath, and focus.

Qi Gong is especially helpful for women because it teaches you how to slow down without going numb. It supports your hormonal health, improves circulation, and helps shift you out of a constant stress response. It’s gentle but powerful, and a great practice if you tend to live in your head or feel scattered!

This sequence is simple. We’ll move slowly, with awareness, and I will guide you through the exercises with vivid visualisations and a slow pace. Don’t worry about looking a certain way, always only focus on how it feels.

How to Prepare

  • Stand barefoot if possible

  • Wear clothes that let you move freely

  • Make sure you have space to extend your arms to the sides and overhead

  • Move at your own pace, but slower is often better

  • If you're on your period or feeling low energy, you can make the movements smaller or sit and visualise them instead

  • It’s totally normal to feel a little lightheaded after the practice, please hydrate and have a little rest

Please take a moment to journal about your experience in your retreat guide.
