Somatic Dance Meditation - Introduction
Our body carries deep intelligence, but many of us have learned to override it. We spend so much time in our heads that it can feel unfamiliar to move without structure or direction. In Somatic Dance Meditation, we invite movement to come from the inside out. It’s about remembering how to listen.
There are three ways we tend to make movement decisions. One is through intellect, where we think about what to do based on experience or memory and try to control the outcome. Another is through impulse, which can be reactive and driven by habit or feeling. The third is intuition. Intuition is subtle. It often shows up as a visual image that invites us into a certain shape or rhythm or a distinct pull towards a certain movement.
This practice is about slowing down enough to sense those intuitive nudges. It helps you follow what your body needs, not what your mind expects. Over time, this builds trust. Not just in your body, but in your ability to respond to life from a place that feels true.
There is no choreography to follow. No right way to move. Just your body, your breath, and the freedom to explore what’s inside.
