Growth happens outside your comfort zone
Growth doesn't ask for big, brave leaps. It asks for one small step that's just slightly outside what feels comfortable.

When we think about the comfort zone, we imagine safety, familiarity, stability, and control. Our routines are predictable and risk is minimal. This stage can be supportive for certain phases of life, but staying in the comfort zone for too long can quietly limit your personal and professional growth. Growth requires change, and change often comes with discomfort.
Stepping outside your routines, habits, and patterns takes courage and a certain level of adaptability. The whole process can feel uncomfortable, but that is exactly when new perspectives, skills, and opportunities begin to form. Over time, what felt uncomfortable at first will start to feel natural, and you build confidence, whether it's trying something new like a yoga class, exploring a different career path, or setting boundaries with the people around you.
It's important to realise that small steps can be just as powerful, and growth doesn't require extreme or overwhelming changes. Signing up for a class you've been thinking about. Taking time for yourself without feeling guilty. Going for a walk instead of watching TV. Choosing something slightly challenging and manageable leads to sustainable, lasting results.
At the same time, growth doesn't require constant pressure. Balance is key. There are moments to challenge ourselves, joining a women's retreat without knowing anyone, taking four cardio classes a week, and there are moments to slow down. A self-care routine. A journal. A yoga class. An evening in the sauna. A book under a cosy blanket.
“Stepping outside your comfort zone is how you grow into who you already are.”
